Among other items in the catalog are Batory's 1586 Riga portugal, 1614 thaler clipping, etc. Overall excellent Poland on pp. 72-93, items 1326-1617 and many in related.
A collection that belongs to the classics. About Gotard Minus and his collection J. Strzałkowski wrote as follows: "He owned in Riga, in the middle of the 19th century, a large collection of Kurlandish and Livonian coins and about 300 Polish ones with the thalers of Sigismund Augustus and John III Sobieski...".
The auction began in Vienna on November 16, 1874. 5379 items were auctioned.
The published catalog was 387 pages of text and 3 pages of drawn plates (year 1874), including on one of them a portugal of Stefan Batory.
A cursory review of the resulting list reveals that the price of the Batory portugal clearly stands out in height from the entire auction - it is 700 florins. Sigismund III's 1614 talar clipe was not among the cheap ones either - 125 florins. Its price is handwritten, also in pen, next to the item and underlined, so it is not unlikely that it was purchased by the owner of this catalog (underlined items very often, especially at that time, marked items owned or acquired).
In general, the Polish at this auction had quite high prices. Under item 1361, a 1620 light thaler (described in Polish as "Kopa za głowa") was sold for 120 florins, and a 1625 thaler for 165 florins.
An excellent collection, full of rarities and rarities.
The present catalog complete, with a co-bound printed result list. Resulting list tattered, glued at the edges (probably sent later, after the auction and hence tattered). Except for the tattered result list, the catalog in excellent condition. Binding in period half leather, with discreet gilt lettering.
