Beautifully preserved, mirrored, the first five-gulden coin of the Free City of Danzig with the Church of the Virgin Mary on the reverse.
After the inflation of the mark reached skyrocketing proportions, the Free City of Danzig decided to introduce its own currency, the guilder. In addition to the regular issue, it also minted, noticeably rarer, coins minted with a mirror stamp.
A beautiful piece. The mirror contrasting with the bright relief leaves no doubt that this is an issue with a specially prepared stamp. Coin in very early NGC grading.
Excellent.
