A very rare, high denomination of Inflants coins.
The opening of the mint at Dahlen Castle was commissioned by King Sigismund II Augustus, the money obtained in production was to be used to pay the Polish troops stationed there. The project was supervised by Hetman Jan Hieronim Chodkiewicz.
Obverse: shields of arms (Eagle and Pogo) between the inscription HALB MARCK / *.1573., in the rim: MONE*NOVA*ARGENTEA *--*.
Reverse: Griffin with sword to the left, in the rim: DVCATVS x LIVONIAE * * *.
Silver, diameter 28.5 mm, weight 4.33 g.
