A ducat from the period when the Danzig mint limited the issuance of this denomination.
A distinctive vintage, for the minting of which stamps made in 1651 were used, with the obverse with the titular initialed IOA and the reverse with the date 1651 redated to 1653.
Only one pair of stamps was used to mint this vintage, and no ducats were minted the following year (1654). Their issuance was not resumed until 1655.
A good presentation ducat of a rare vintage. Light wave of double bending. Scratch and cut on the reverse, and small nicks on the rim. Relief practically uncirculated. The natural surface luster is largely preserved in the background.
Gold, diameter 24.4 mm, weight 3.45 g.
