Here is the rarest trojak of John Casimir.
Minted without the consent of the Seimas, the first Lithuanian trojak.
It was an issue on the initiative of the Grand Treasurer of Lithuania, Michal Gedeon Tryzna. In 1652 he opened a mint in Vilnius and,"not caring" about the new minting ordinance, began minting sixpences, trojaks, pennies and shekels. The two highest denominations of this issue, made in undersampled silver in relation to the prevailing ordinance, are very rare today.
Trojaks were minted only in 1652, specifying their rate on the coin (under the Pogonia, sides of the Gozdawa coat of arms) as 1/30th of a thaler.
Beautiful mint mirror in the rim, unprecedented on these low proof coins. Underbite centrally and two cuts on the obverse. Very attractive condition considering the rarity of the type.
For the first time in our offer.
Consistent, high valuations in catalogs and price lists (R7, YYYY).
Silver, diameter 21 mm, weight 1.63 g.
