A beautiful Danzig ducat of King Sobieski.

Intense, clear mint mirror and uncirculated relief. Beauty appreciated with a high NGC MS63 note.

The second type of portrait of the king among his Danzig ducats. With Sobieski depicted wearing a crown (instead of a laurel wreath), armor with epaulet with a lion's head and the Order of the Holy Spirit on his chest. Stamped in 1683, by a prominent Danzig medallicist (Höhn), at the mint under the management of Christian and David Schirmer.

Obverse: bust of the king in armor, wearing a crown, with the Order of the Holy Spirit on his chest. In the rim: IOAN III D G REX POL M D L R PR.

Reverse: lions supporting a city shield standing on an ornamental console, above the shield a small wreath of rosettes, in the center three branches, under the lions' paws flowers. In the rim: MON AUREA CIVITAT GEDAN 1688/3
