Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: XF
Reference: Paszkiewicz 4D.4, Kopicki 8420 (R6)

A very well struck, rare Wschowa denarius.

The issue formerly considered a coin of Ladislaus II Jagiello, now, in light of Boris Paszkiewicz's research, dated to around 1434, the reign of Ladislaus Varna.

Depicting a shield with a double cross under the letter W, flanked by the letters "m" (side) and "p". As we read in the "Silesiorum Moneta", this is the royal letter W and the signature - probably of the mincers - MP.

Silver, diameter 11 mm, weight 0.28 g.
