Grade: NGC UNC
Certificate: NGC 6636576-015
Collection: The Grain Collection

A new type of ducat, introduced in 1814 with modifications, compared to the ducats minted until 1808 in the Republic. On the obverse, a slender picture of the knight, and on the reverse, more delicate ornaments, similarly to the letters in both legends. Two– thread outline of a square around a legend written in 5 lines, each of them ending with a dot. At the end of the obverse legend, there is a dot below the city arms. Both digits 1 in the date punched with the I letters. The obverse legend on the ducats from 1814–1816 ended with the coat of arms of Utrecht, which from 1807 housed the royal mint.

Type I B issue from 1815 is minted in the 2nd half of this year, with a clover – the Suermondt mintmaster’s privy mark. The mintage was lower than that of the issue from the 1st half of the year (type I A, without a privy mark), amounting to 617,236 pcs.
