In 1797, Czar Paul I established an official award for distinguished clergy. Produced throughout the 19th century in various varieties. Piece in fire gilding. Assessing the style of workmanship and stylistic similarity to still 18th century jewelry, we estimate that the workmanship of the early 19th century. Transcription in Russian "Prosfietitiel" untranslated, in free translation can be added "to the shepherd", teacher", "person bringing education "i.e. the inscription in translation on the vertical bar "[to the shepherd] setting an example to the faithful by word and life", horizontally "established during the pious reign of the great emperor Paul I on December 18, 1797 " At the top the monogram of Tsar Paul I. Commonly called "Pavlovskiy kriest" (Pavlovian cross).
