The first trojak of the Olkusz mint. The main crown mint, opened by King Stefan Batory in 1578.
Issued under the administration of Rafal Leszczynski, who was dismissed shortly thereafter for failing to comply with the mint's ordinance. On this trojak manifested, among other things, the absence of the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania on the reverse.
The first type of trojak 1579 - with a small bust of the king. Changed later that year to the characteristic large head of the ruler.
A rare and highly valued collector's item.
