Groszes were minted in Bydgoszcz during the entire reign of Sigismund III, but only the latest, most inferior in terms of metal, minted according to the last ordinance, are popular coins. The first pennies were minted before the first reform, in 1596-1599, and are among the very rare ones. The second issue did not occur until 14 years later, in 1613, at the mint opened by the king in 1608, but it lasted a very short time. Just a year later, it was superseded by a new, more profitable denomination - the halftone. They are the last portrait crown pennies of this king.
The 1614 pennies are extremely rare. They appear in commerce sporadically. In our 20-year history it has occurred only 1 time, in 2015 in poor condition 3.
A beautiful piece. Intense mint luster, minor minting imperfections for this vintage.
Unusual for this vintage condition.
