A beautifully crafted medal commemorating Poland's recapture of Kamieniec Podolski, which was restored to the Crown by the Peace of Karlovice in 1699.
A thaler-sized medal and sometimes described as such (1.5 thalers).
Striking presentation. No defects, with a mirror preserved in the rim and a nice natural background of open spaces.
A medal with a propaganda character, celebrating the deeds of August II. As we read in the Catalogue of the Royal Castle Collection: "the corona muralis on the head of the personification of Kamieniec Podolski emphasizes the war merits and personal participation of the ruler in the victorious war with Turkey. The recapture of Podolia along with the fortress was in accordance with the obligations contained in the pacta conventa sworn by the king."
