A very rare gold medal from the partition period of Poland.
Award medal to commemorate 50 years of professional work, with engraving for Edward Bukasiewicz of Lviv, dated 1910.
Medals in gold, due to their value, were minted in individual pieces, and over the years of our nation's turbulent history, often melted down in subsequent years, irretrievably lost to our culture. Only a few pieces have survived to the present day, and they usually adorn museum collections.
Complete with a card inscribed on a blank by Rudolf Meczicki.
JB namesake and gold hallmark on the edge.
Gold .585, diameter 36 mm, weight 29.9 g.
