In addition to the mintmark, a rosette is also visible between the knight’s legs, appearing (with slight changes) on ducats minted in Utrecht in the years 1679–1731 and 1735–1736. A ducat from a transitional period rarely encountered in trade, when some provinces (Holland, Zeeland) had already implemented the mechanization of minting coins in their mints, and others – including Utrecht – remained manual minting for many years thereafter.
