One of the rarest Lithuanian 3 groschen of Sigismund III.
Typologically, it is a continuation of the type minted a year earlier, with the date on the sides of the face value, with the Chalecki coat of arms and the mincer's mark "lion pierced with a hook" at the bottom. While in 1596 it is a rare coin, in 1597 it is very rare (in Ivanauskas's catalogue with the highest level of rarity -RRRR-), as it is quickly replaced with a new type. The mark of Daniel Koste (the lessee of the mint) is replaced by the mark of the mint steward, Szymon Lidmann.
Very nice condition.
